Product News : SAMSUNG’s Series 6 630 LCD HDTVs Deliver Top Design And Cutting-Edge Features For A Balanced Full HD Entertainment Experience

January 26th, 2010

RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J., July 23, 2008 – Samsung Electronics America Inc., the market leader in flat screen HDTV design and innovation, offers consumers more options for bringing a “Touch of Color” to their home entertainment center with the Series 6 630 LCD HDTVs. The bezel of the LCD HDTVs incorporates Samsung’s ToC™ (Touch of Color) design now with a new, narrower frame. Accentuating the forward-thinking design, the Series 6 630 delivers a stunning full HD 1080p picture with up to a 40,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, and utilizes Samsung’s latest Auto Motion Plus 120Hz™ technology for pristine picture clarity even with the fastest onscreen action. “The Series 6 630 LCD HDTVs carry the quality that has helped make Samsung HDTVs a first choice for both consumers looking to step up to full HD entertainment, and home theater aficionados alike,” said Jonas Tanenbaum, Vice President of LCD Television Marketing at Samsung Electronics America. “With the revolutionary ‘Touch of Color’ narrow bezel and advanced 1080p and entry to 120Hz picture technology, the Series 6 630 LCDs are a worthy balance of both the latest features and design elements available today.”Touch of Color™Samsung’s Series 6 630 flat screen LCDs with the narrow Touch of Color bezel employ dual-injection molding technology which embeds color material rather than using paint or dye. By controlling the density of the transparent and opaque material used in the process, the resulting bezel mimics a natural sunset with distinct red and black gradation. Ambient light levels can adjust the strength of the red hue’s brightness, and the narrow bezel ensures viewers are not distracted from enjoying their favorite movies, sports, games, and more onscreen. Since color is infused into the TV’s bezel and not painted on, no VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds) are emitted for lower CO2 emissions during production. The idea of ToC ultimately stems from Samsung’s desire to give consumers a well-designed HDTV that fits into any home both as an entertainment hub, and as an interior decoration.WiseLink™With the USB 2.0 interface on the Series 6 630 LCD, consumers can instantly access and sort through MP3 audio and JPEG images found on a flash memory drive. Share favorite songs and pictures with the entire family in the comfort of your living room rather than huddling around a computer.Wide Color Enhancer 2Samsung’s Wide Color Enhancer 2 technology maximizes the expanded color range used in HDTV broadcasting. Reds, greens, and blues are strengthened to bring depth and intensity to images that may appear weak on another display, allowing consumers to appreciate the look originally intended by the movie’s director, or game’s developer.Auto Motion Plus 120Hz™Designed to minimize the motion judder and image blurring that can occur in fast-paced action scenes or sports broadcasts, Samsung’s Auto Motion Plus 120Hz™ technology featured in the Series 6 630 LCD, estimates and inserts an extra frame between frames to create a smoother viewing experience. The extra frame makes images flow seamlessly, allowing even the fastest action scenes to be presented with precision and clarity.EnergyStar® Rated Aligned with Samsung’s efforts to combine technological advancement with environmental awareness, Samsung’s Series 6 630 LCDs feature a unique “EnergySaving Mode” that ensures the HDTV is compliant with the EPA’s EnergyStar® rating system. By adjusting the HDTV’s backlight brightness with a Low, Medium or High selection, power consumption is decreased substantially compared to similar 2007 models. The Series 6 630 Full HD LCD TVs will be available in August in 40” class (39.9-inch measured diagonally), 46” class (45.9-inch measured diagonally), and 52” class (52.2-inch measured diagonally) sizes. Product News : SAMSUNG Announces Three New Stylish, Ergonomic Camcorders

January 8th, 2010

Las Vegas, NV (January 6, 2010) – Samsung Electronics America, Inc., a market leader and award winning innovator in consumer electronics, today announced three new stylish, ergonomically-designed compact digital camcorders which come fully equipped with an array of useful features. The SMX-C20, SMX-C24 and HMX-M20 all feature the same built-in 25 degree Active Angle Lens that was the hallmark design feature of their predecessors — the SMX-C10 and HMX-R10. Samsung’s innovative Active Angle Lens allows consumers to hold the camera more naturally, and has earned Samsung design awards and accolades from all over the world since first appearing in the SMX-C10 and HMX-R10 last year. The SMX-C20, SMX-C24 and HMX M20 will be on display during the 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show, January 7-10, 2010, in the Samsung booth #11026 in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. “The SMX-C20, SMX-C24, and HMX-M20 are ideal for a wide-range of consumers, said Mr. SangRyong Kim, Senior Vice President of Camcorder Team, Samsung Electronics. “These camcorders appeal to consumers’ demand for simplicity and features in a camcorder that allow them to get great results with minimal effort. Additionally, with Samsung’s Active Angle Lens as well as head-turning ToC design, consumers are able to look good and enjoy an added level of comfort while recording video.”Record in Style and Comfort The new SMX-C20, SMX-C24 and HMX-M20 add a level of style and beauty to shooting home videos. Both SMX models offer Samsung’s signature ToC design, which features a hint of color that is naturally blended into the deep black body of the camcorders to create an attractive crystalline appearance. To make shooting home videos more comfortable, all three of the new models boast Samsung’s Active Angle Lens design. Unlike traditional camcorders that force users to hold their arm up at a 90-degree angle while recording video, the Active Angle Lens design, exclusive to Samsung, allows users to hold the camcorder in a more relaxed and natural position due to the fact that the lens is angled downward by 25 degrees. This more natural recording position reduces the overall stress on the wrist and elbow and also removes the LCD screen from the user’s line of sight, enabling them to always keep an eye on their subject while recording. Record High-Quality Video & Digital Still Images Whether it’s documenting an unforgettable vacation or simply capturing the day to day antics of family and friends, Samsung’s new SMX-C20, SMX C24 and HMX-M20 give you access to the highest-quality video and still images. The SMX-C20 and SMX-C24 offer remarkable standard definition video recording at a resolution of 720×480. In addition, both camcorders offer the ability to quickly and easily capture still images at a resolution of two mega pixels. For those who want even higher-resolution or wish to enjoy the best possible results for viewing their content on their HDTV, the HMX-M20 offers full-HD, 1080/60p video recording. The HMX-M20 also utilizes Samsung’s Back Side Illumination (BSI) CMOS imaging sensor, which was created specifically to absorb more light than other conventional sensors and delivers unprecedented low-light performance. The HMX-M20 also boasts an 8x optical zoom / 12x intelli zoom and the ability to capture still images in stunning 12 mega-pixel resolution, further setting it apart from other camcorders in terms of image quality, versatility and ease of use. All three camcorders utilize H.264 compression, which allows you to record longer than camcorders using the typical MPEG2 format. The new Samsung SMX-C20 and SMX C24 also come with impressive 10x optical zooms and all three models are paired with Hyper Image Stabilization. Ideal for recording events from a great distance, the camcorders’ impressive optical zooms allow you to get in close to the action no matter how far away you may be. Access to such a powerful optical zoom can come in handy for any number of scenarios, ranging from recording your child’s soccer game from the sidelines to the sights and sounds of a trip to the city. Additionally, Samsung’s Hyper Image Stabilization gives you the ability to capture clear and stable video as it counteracts the negative effects of a shaky hand while recording, which can lead to blurry footage. Samsung also provides different memory options for recording footage with the new SMX-C20, SMX C24 and HMX-M20. With the SMX-C24, users can take advantage of 16GB of built-in flash memory. Users can also expand the camcorder’s memory capacity using the SD/SDHC memory card slot. The SMX-C20 and HMX-M20 do not feature internal memory and require the use of SD/SDHC media cards.Smart Features for Editing and Sharing The SMX-C20, SMX-C24 and HMX-M20 come equipped with Samsung’s play-edit-sharing program called intelli studio. The built-in intelli-studio software gives users the ability to connect the camcorder to any computer via USB and edit and play their video without having to install supporting software. The built-in intelli-studio software also helps simplify the way users upload and share their footage using today’s popular video sharing Web sites. For added convenience, a one-touch “upload” button, available directly on the camcorders, provides a direct connection to YouTube™, taking the hassle and confusion out of uploading footage. In addition, the SMX C20, SMX-C24, and HMX-M20 also provide options for basic on-camera editing, including the ability to merge and split video files. This can be done directly on the camcorders using their 230K-pixel, swiveling 2.7-inch wide LCD screens. Samsung also enhances the video recording experience for end-users thanks to several unique features, including time lapse recording, animated thumbnails and a versatile charging system. Time lapse recording allows users to program the camcorder to record at a pre-set interval of one image every one, three, five, 10, 15 or 30 seconds. Time lapse recording is especially useful for condensing extremely long events, such as rolling clouds on a sunny day, into a short, easy to-view video. Samsung’s animated thumbnail feature simplifies the way users search for video clips on the SMX-C20, SMX-C24, and HMX-M20. Each video clip saved on the camcorder is represented by a small thumbnail on the LCD screen. When scrolling through one’s videos, each thumbnail will provide a short playback of the video file when highlighted by the user allowing them to quickly preview each clip without having to view the entire shot. The camcorders also feature a versatile charging system. Users can either recharge the battery by connecting the camcorder to the supplied AC adapter or via USB while the camcorder is connected to a computer.Samsung Electronics America’s CES press releases, video content and product images are available at www.samsung.com/newsroom.About Samsung Electronics America, Inc. Product News : SAMSUNG Adds Versatility And Style To New SL-Series Cameras

January 8th, 2010

Las Vegas, NV (January 6, 2010) – Samsung Electronics America, Inc., a market leader and award-winning innovator in consumer electronics, today extended its popular SL-Series of digital cameras with the introduction of the SL600 and SL50. These two stylish, easy-to-use compact digital cameras offer consumers an impressive range of advanced features all at an affordable price. The SL600 and SL50 will be on display during the 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show, January 7-10, 2010, in the Samsung booth #11026 in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. “Samsung’s SL-Series of digital cameras deliver significant value to the consumer, and that’s especially true with the new SL600 and SL50,” said Mr. SJ Park, CEO of Samsung Digital Imaging Company. “In addition to their attractive designs, these cameras give casual photographers the ability to do more with features that are typically not found in entry-level digital cameras, including wide-angle lenses, longer zooms and automatic functionalities such as Samsung’s Smart Auto scene recognition technology.”With the 12.2 mega-pixel SL600 and 10.2 mega-pixels SL50, casual photographers will be able to enjoy the benefits of more powerful lenses, allowing them to enhance their creativity. Both new SL-Series cameras feature a high-quality 27mm wide-angle Samsung lens with 5x optical zoom, delivering significant flexibility when compared to a traditional 3x optical zoom, 35mm lens. The Samsung SL600 and SL50 also feature Samsung’s advanced Digital Image Stabilization technology, which helps reduce blur and makes it easy for novice photographers to capture impressive images. In addition, the SL-Series cameras offer large LCD screens on the back of the cameras to help frame one’s shot and review images. The SL600 offers users a 2.7-inch 230K LCD, while the SL50 offers a 2.5-inch 230K LCD. Both the SL600 and SL50 even come equipped with standard definition video recording (640×480) at 30 frames per second, enabling consumers to capture important moments.Smart Automatic Controls The new SL-Series cameras offer a full suite of automatic controls, including Samsung’s advanced scene recognition technology known as Smart Auto. Designed to simplify the way consumers take a photograph, Smart Auto ensures that users never have to worry about their photos being washed out, too dark or out of focus. Smart Auto analyzes key elements of the composition of the image such as color, brightness, motion, and subject and then selects the appropriate scene mode which will produce the best results possible. In addition to Smart Auto, the SL600 and SL50 also feature Samsung’s Perfect Portrait System – a series of automatic technologies which take the guess work out of shooting beautiful portraits. Key features of the Perfect Portrait System include face detection and Samsung’s Smile Shot and Blink Detection technologies which automatically detect when your subjects are smiling and if their eyes are closed, allowing you to capture them looking their best. Another advanced feature is the Red-eye Fix mode. This in camera feature automatically fixes the typical red-eye associated with the use of the flash, before the photo is produced, a significant time saver as you don’t have to spend time afterwards removing red-eyes from your pictures. The Perfect Portrait System also includes Samsung’s Beauty Shot, a unique technology which allows consumers to remove all the imperfections on a subject’s face such as wrinkles, blemishes, and moles. Simply select one of three editing options to even out skin tone and complexion.Samsung Electronics America’s CES press releases, video content and product images are available at www.samsung.com/newsroom.About Samsung Electronics America, Inc. Product News : SAMSUNG Introduces Four New H-Series Full-HD Camcorders

January 8th, 2010

Las Vegas, NV (January 6, 2010) – Samsung Electronics America, Inc., a market leader and award winning innovator in consumer electronics, today introduced four new full-HD digital camcorders, the HMX-H200, HMX-203, HMX-H204 and HMX-H205. Each of these new camcorders boasts an impressive list of advanced features, offering unparalleled value to consumers looking to experience high-quality, full-HD video recording at a competitive price. The HMX-H200, HMX-203, HMX-H204 and HMX-H205 will be on display during the 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show, January 7-10, 2010, in the Samsung booth #11026 in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. “Consumers want the ability to capture family events – birthday parties, football games, graduations, and more – with the utmost detail and clarity, but full-HD video recording has come at a price premium in the past,” said Mr. SangRyong Kim, Senior Vice President of Camcorder Team, Samsung Electronics. “Samsung’s H-Series camcorders give consumers the ability to capture life in full-HD with a wealth of functionality, features, and performance, all at an affordable price.” All four new H-Series camcorders feature Samsung’s revolutionary new BSI CMOS imaging sensor. Designed to absorb more light than other conventional sensors and deliver unprecedented low-light performance, the BSI CMOS sensor sets new standards for performance and image quality, particularly among entry-level camcorders. Solid State Drives Samsung’s new H-Series camcorders offer high-performance internal memory that utilizes Samsung’s Solid State Drives (SSD), which offer a substantial advantage over the use of Hard Disk Drives (HDD) in a digital camcorder. SSD technology provides consumers with higher performing and more durable internal memory. In comparison to HDD, Samsung’s SSD technology is more lightweight and compact, operates silently with very low heat emission, and features no moving parts, which significantly reduces overall power consumption and enhances reliability. The lower power consumption of the H-Series’ SSD technology translates into an impressive battery life of approximately two hours. No moving parts also make SSD technology more durable and resistant to shock and vibrations, which pose a considerable threat to the performance of HDD based digital camcorders. Additionally, Samsung’s SSD technology is faster than HDD, including quicker boot up and read/write speeds which are required for the amount of data recorded in full-HD resolution. The internal SSD configurations available on Samsung’s new H-Series full-HD camcorders include a 32GB SSD in the HMX-H205, a 16GB SSD in the HMX-H204, and an 8GB SSD in the HMX-H203. Each camcorder’s memory capacity can also be expanded using an SD/SDHC memory card. The HMX H200 does not feature internal SSD memory and requires the use of a SD/SDHC memory card.Powerful Optics and Touch-Screen LCD Samsung’s new H-Series full-HD camcorders feature an impressive 37mm wide angle lens, which offers consumers a versatile 20x optical zoom. Unlike other camcorders offering a typical angle of view of 40~50mm, the H-Series’ 37mm wide-angle Samsung lens allows users to fit more of their desired scene into the frame, making the camcorder ideal for recording large groups of family or friends, breathtaking landscapes or even capturing all the action at sporting events. The H-Series’ lenses are further enhanced with Optical Image Stabilization to help reduce image blur and shaky video, which can be especially helpful when using the camcorders’ full optical zooms. Samsung’s Smart Optical Image Stabilization is superior to image stabilizing technologies found in other camcorders, as it reduces shake and blur across a wider portion of the image frame and produces higher quality images as a result. A 2.7-inch wide, swiveling, touch-screen LCD boasts a 230K-pixel resolution and adds to the user experience by giving consumers uncomplicated and easy access to all of the camcorders’ various controls and settings.Unique Features The new HMX-H205, HMX-H204, HMX-H203 and HMX-H200 are also loaded with a range of unique features such as the ability to capture high-quality 4.7 mega-pixel digital still images, Smart Auto mode, which automatically selects the appropriate scene mode which will produce the best results possible for the user’s shooting scenario, as well as time lapse recording, an innovative setting which will give end-users the ability to take their creativity to a whole new level. When using the camcorders’ time lapse mode, consumers can program the new H-Series camcorders to record a single image at intervals of one, three or five seconds, and then save each image as one single movie file (720p resolution). Product News : SAMSUNG Maximizes Style And Technology With The CL80 And TL240

January 8th, 2010

Las Vegas, NV (January 6, 2010) – Samsung Electronics America, Inc., a market leader and award-winning innovator in consumer electronics, today unveiled the CL80 and TL240, a pair of stylish, 14.2 mega-pixel digital cameras that are fully loaded with an array of impressive features that truly enhance the digital imaging experience for consumers. Highlighted by ergonomic and elegant designs, the new Samsung CL80 and TL240 are ideal for the consumer-on-the-go looking for a camera that can do it all. The CL80 adds even more great functionality with the integration of Wi-Fi* connectivity and a 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED touch screen, while the TL240 features an impressive 3.5-inch touch screen. Also, the CL80 has received a 2010 CES Innovation Award. The CL80 and TL240 will be on display during the 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show, January 7-10, 2010, in the Samsung booth #11026 in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.“Consumers are looking for that great all-in-one camera – a digital camera that takes great pictures, is visually appealing, and provides a wealth of features to ensure a great image or video every time,” said Mr. SJ Park, CEO of Samsung Digital Imaging Company. “The CL80 and TL240 deliver on that need for consumers to have a camera that does it all, and in the case of the CL80 we’ve taken it even a step further by providing several connectivity options to share those photos and videos on the go.”Appealing Design Adds to Ease-of-UseSamsung’s design engineers were able to produce one of the most remarkable camera designs in the industry with the help of hydro-forming technology for the CL80 and TL240. Hydro-forming allows for greater flexibility during the design process and gives manufacturers the ability to produce smoother silhouettes, seamless bonding, and higher quality surfaces. The CL80 and the TL240 are the first consumer electronic products ever to be manufactured using hydro-forming technology.Despite their svelte 0.77-inch stainless-steel frames, the CL80 and the TL240 house impressive Schneider KREUZNACH lenses which boast a design inspired by the mirror-writings of Leonardo da Vinci. When powered up, the cameras’ lens barrels extend and the lens specifications, including focal length and speed, appear with a hidden color accent in the concave reflective ring that surrounds each lens. These specifications are inscribed in reverse on the cameras’ lens barrels and disappear when the lens naturally retracts into the camera body. The distinctive design makes an immediate and lasting impression. The Samsung CL80 and TL240 are also highlighted by a slanted design, which places the back of the camera at a seven degree angle. This subtle design accent proves to be extremely useful for consumers who are interested in taking self-portraits and group shots. The issue that many consumers face when taking self-portraits or group shots with traditional digital cameras is the camera must be positioned much higher than the subjects in order to capture the complete image. Thanks to the seven degree angling of the CL80 and TL240, the lenses will always be pointed at the subjects’ faces even if the camera is positioned at a lower angle. Furthermore, unlike traditional shutter buttons which sit flat on top of the camera, the CL80 and TL240 offer slanted shutter buttons which make the cameras more comfortable to hold and operate. Wireless Connectivity The CL80 allows consumers to share their video and photos on the go without being tethered to their laptops or home PCs thanks to its wireless connectivity options, which include Bluetooth 2.0, Wi-Fi and DLNA. Using an available Wi-Fi connection, users can send a digital image to any email address using the camera’s touch screen QWERTY keypad or selecting those stored the camera’s address book. Users can also utilize the QWERTY keypad to include text within the body of the email. The CL80’s Wi Fi connection also allows users to upload their images directly to popular websites such as Facebook®, Picasa™ and YouTube®, as well as SamsungImaging.com. The CL80 also includes Samsung’s AllShare feature, which allows consumers to share content, including photos and videos, with other DLNA certified devices such as HDTVs and digital photo frames. This gives the CL80 user a seamless way to wirelessly transfer 720p HD video in addition to digital still images. To maximize speed and efficiency, all images transferred through Wi-Fi will be reduced to a resolution of two mega-pixels. Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity is also included in the CL80, allowing users to share and transfer photos directly with Bluetooth 2.0 compatible mobile phones. When using Bluetooth 2.0, the CL80 will automatically resize the digital image to a resolution of 1024×768 (1MB). Smart Gesture Touch-Screen User Interface The Samsung CL80 incorporates an impressive 3.7-inch wide WVGA AMOLED screen, while the TL240 features a 3.5” touch screen TFT LCD. Both cameras’ massive displays house Samsung’s Smart Gesture touch screen user interface which is complimented by an internal Gravity sensor for added ease of use. Smart Gesture is one of the most advanced and accurate touch-screen user interfaces on the market, and it gives users the ability to access and use key features with either a simple tilt or a hand gesture. The Smart Gesture adds a level of fun to the way users interact with and enjoy their content, allowing them to quickly scroll through their photos with a swipe of their finger or by slightly tilting the camera in either direction. Users can also easily delete photos from their library using Smart Gesture by marking an “X” on the screen with their finger, or rotate an image by drawing a circle (O) on the screen. Smart Gesture UI also offers useful auto-focusing options such as object tracking and one-touch auto focusing. Object tracking enables users to focus on any area by touching the location on the screen with their fingertip. Once the object or location is selected, the cameras will lock and keep their focus on the subject even if it’s moving within the frame. Users can also proceed to take that photo by continuing to hold the location with their finger for two seconds, thanks to the cameras’ one-touch auto focusing capabilities.Powerful Optical Zoom The CL80 and the TL240 offer powerful 7x optical zooms on the high-performance, oversized Schneider KREUZNACH lenses. To help reduce blur, these impressive lenses are paired with Samsung’s Dual Image Stabilization technology, which combines both optical and digital stabilizers to counteract the negative effects of a user’s shaky hand. End-users can also take advantage of the cameras’ 7x optical zooms and optical image stabilization while recording video. Both the CL80 and the TL240 offer 720p HD video recording at 30 frames-per-second in H.264 format. The cameras also come complete with built-in HDMI connectivity, giving users the ability to effortlessly view their HD video and digital still images on an HDTV or HD monitor.Smart Features The new Samsung CL80 and TL240 also make it easier than ever for consumers to capture the perfect shot thanks to Samsung’s Smart Auto 2.0 (Still & Movie) scene recognition technology. Smart Auto 2.0 technology will automatically recognize the user’s current shooting environment and select the appropriate settings to achieve the best results possible. Additionally, Samsung’s Smart Auto 2.0 scene recognition technology can also be used to record video, producing the highest quality footage and results no matter where consumers will be using the cameras.
